The subseries consists of regional office and field staff files of the Congress of Racial Equality's (CORE) Organization Dept. from 1957-1968. The files include memoranda, correspondence, newsletters, printed material, and reports pertaining to activities of the three regional offices in the Northeast, South, and California. Materials document the Southern Regional Council Voter Education Project, the formation of a community center in Meridian, Mississippi, the National Action Council, housing and employment discrimination, CORE's 1965 demonstration at the World's Fair (New York City), education, and police brutality. The collection contains the correspondence of James T. McClain, Richard Haley, Ed Hollander, Ronnie Moore and David Dennis.
